The Program The Claire School of Dance has been sharing the joy of movement with children for over 15 years. Our creative movement program is designed for Pre Ks and Kinders. Classes not only introduce children to dance concepts, but enhance their creativity and overall development. Ballet/movement classes for children grades 1-4 introduce basic ballet and movement technique and vocabulary while providing the opportunity for self-expression. Our ballet curriculum is based on the National Training Program of the American Ballet Theatre. Ms. Claire is a certified ABT instructor. The Schedule First semester: September 9, 2011 to January 13, 2012 Second Semester: January 16 to May 11, 2012 Class Times: Pre-K/K students meet Fridays 12:30-1:30pm. Students in grades 1-4 meet Fridays 3:15-4:15pm. Classes are held in the dance studio. Pre-K and Kinder students are picked up by the teacher from class. Students have have a quick lunch before changing at 12:20. Students in grades 1-4 will be met by the dance teacher at the dismissal bell and supervised while they change clothes. Teachers escort students to drop-off where they wait until all students have been collected by parents. Holidays: November 25, 2011 December 16 - 30, 2012 March 16 - 23, 2012 Attire Ballet/Movement class: Girls wear a black leotard, white pull-on dance skirt (preferably Mirella MS12CH), pink tights and snugly-fit ballet slippers. (Skirts may be ordered through Claire School of Dance.) Children wearing tights must wear slippers. Boys wear a solid color t-shirt, bike shorts or pants and black ballet slippers. Creative movement (preK/K): Girls wear pastel or black leotards. They do not wear tights as they dance barefoot. Footless tights are permitted, as are leggings or sweat pants during cooler weather. Boys’ attire for creative movement is t-shirt and pants. For all classes, jewelry should be avoided and hair should be neatly pulled back. Recitals The 2011-2012 End of the School Year Recital for all students will be held Friday, May 4th. Parents will be notified of recital fees. Recital fees will be due January 27th. Tuition & Fees Tuition is $300 per semester. There is an annual, non-refundable $35 registration fee. End of year recital fees will be announced January 6th and will be due by January 27th.
