The Claire School of Dance is proud to sponsor the Heights Dance Theatre, a performance training company for dance students ages 6-16. Dancers perform classical and contemporary choreography in three annual productions, The New York Nutcracker in December, a Spring Repertory Concert in May, and a “white ballet” for White Linen Night in August. Students may also have the opportunity to perform in community locations throughout the year. Members of the Heights Dance Theatre are given additional opportunities for performing over and above those offered regular students at the Claire School of Dance. All students at the Claire School of Dance, ages 6 and up, are eligible to perform in The New York Nutcracker. Rehearsals for these students take place in class. Members of the Heights Dance Theatre are given additional parts in the show. Members of the Heights Dance Theatre rehearse for their additional roles in the Saturday afternoon rehearsals. Eligibility requirements Enrolled in at least one dance class per week at the Claire School of Dance Available to rehearse Saturday afternoons We may have flexibility on rehearsal times. Contact the office with any concerns or questions. New York Nutcracker Rehearsals begin in early October. Performance is a Sunday in December. (Date is announced early September.) See New York Nutcracker page for more info. Rehearsal fees: $120 for students in Primary, Level 1 or Level 2 ballet, and hip hop, jazz, or modern classes. (Minimum of 3 students required.) Solo rehearsal fees: $30 per 30 minutes. Solos usually require 6-8 30-minute rehearsals. Costume fee: $50. (Note: These fees are in addition to the performance fee charged to each Claire School of Dance student.) Spring Concert Fees Rehearsals begin mid February. Performance is mid May. Rehearsal fees: $150 for students in Primary, Level 1 or Level 2 ballet, and hip hop, jazz, or modern classes. (Minimum of 3 students required.) Solo rehearsal fees: $30 per 30 minutes.
